Give a Hand is a highly challenging but rewarding CSR team building experience that inspires audiences and creates a meaningful difference for others.
Give a Hand: how does it work?
Our flagship CSR programme, Give a Hand is a challenging and tremendously rewarding team building experience that demonstrates how our attitude and determination to tackle problems can create a positive and life-changing impact on the future of those less fortunate.
Each workshop begins with a captivating keynote which is co-written to align with your organisational goals and missions. This ensures everything which is spoken about relates fully to each audience member. Once the keynote speaker has finished, participants are split into teams, each receiving a self-build prosthetic hand kit. The aim is to construct a clinical prosthetic hand from scratch which will later be fitted to a recipient, child or adult, in a developing country who has lost a limb.
Each team member has their own important role in the construction process, however the smaller the team, the bigger role each participant has. We recommend teams of 3-4 per kit, working towards a 30-40 minute build time.
For larger audiences, we typically recommend having help desk assistants in the room on the day to support delegates throughout the build and provide assistance when needed.
Visit our programme FAQ page to learn more about the logistics of Give a Hand.
Why is Give a Hand important?
Over 30 million people worldwide live with limb loss, and many in underprivileged communities have limited or no access to prosthetic care. Some people are born with limb loss, while others lose a limb as a result of accidents or injuries.
The list continues to grow, but thanks to teams around the world who get involved with Give a Hand, we’re able to empowers individuals to regain independence.

What will my employees take away?
Give a Hand is a fantastic way to bring teams together, strengthen working relationships and build trust and team morale. As employees tackle the prosthetic hand challenge, they’ll develop their communication and collaboration skills while learning to overcome setbacks through teamwork and determination. These are all valuable, transferable skills that can be brought back into the workplace and day-to-day working life.
There’s also a deeper sense of gratitude and purpose that comes from knowing the prosthetic hand your team builds will go on to be fitted to an amputee elsewhere in the world. So, even after your event has wrapped up, the impact of your team-building experience continues to live on.
What is the corporate benefit of Give a Hand?
Give a Hand is a meaningful CSR team-building experience that allows companies to bring their people together while making a positive social impact. Taking part demonstrates a commitment to social responsibility, which can strengthen relationships with employees, customers and other stakeholders, while also creating a greater sense of purpose within the workplace. As teams work together to build prosthetic hands for people in need, they develop stronger relationships, collaboration and communication skills, while contributing to a cause that extends far beyond the event itself.

What happens after my Give a Hand session?
Logistics will be pre-organised with your event team so we can discreetly tidy up and let your delegates enjoy the rest of their event. Afterwards, we work with our charity partners, LN4, to quality-check the prosthetic hands built by your team before distributing them to someone in need.
So far, Give a Hand has contributed to over 80,000 prosthetic hands being fitted worldwide.
Where will my prosthetic hand end up?
To date, our charity partners, LN4, have distributed prosthetic hands to over 90 countries across the globe, from India and Mexico to Peru and beyond.
Every hand built through Give a Hand has the potential to make a lasting difference to someone, somewhere in the world.
