How to Make a Prosthetic Hand

At Lightbulb Teams, we offer a range of charity team-building activities that operate with a β€˜give back’ angle.

At Lightbulb Teams, our CSR team-building activities are embraced by companies worldwide to strengthen teamwork, promote social responsibility, and create meaningful experiences. These events not only enhance collaboration and communication skills, but also contribute to important causes – like building and donating a prosthetic hand.

The Give a Hand Programme

Give a Hand, a CSR Team-Building Experience

Our flagship programme, Give a Hand is a challenging and highly rewarding team building experience that encourages participants to work together to construct a prosthetic hand. Once complete, each hand is donated to someone who has lost a limb, often in underserved global communities.

By focusing on teamwork, empathy and problem-solving, this activity allows your team to create real-world impact while developing stronger internal dynamics.

How to Construct a Prosthetic Hand: Step-by-step

1. Check Your Supplies

Before construction begins, teams are provided with a full kit containing the prosthetic hand components, screws and tools. Our help desk assistants always attend our Give a Hand events with plenty of spares should they be required.

2. Build the Hand

Following the step-by-step instructions provided, team members will collaborate to assemble the prosthetic hand. This process encourages precision, teamwork and problem-solving under pressure. If you have any technical questions, support staff will be available.

3. Decorate the Case

Each prosthetic hand is shipped in a protective case to recipients. Therefore we encourage teams to get creative and decorate the case with drawings, messages of hope or inspiring quotes. This helps add a human touch to the donation and builds a connection from team-build to real-world impact.

4. Complete the Dedication Card

Take a moment to fill out the dedication card that accompanies the prosthetic hand. This can include your team’s name, your company, and a few heartfelt words to connect giver to receiver.

5. Share your Experience

Don’t forget to capture photos and videos during your team-building experience! Sharing your experience on social media or leaving a review for Lightbulb Teams helps us continue our mission and inspires others to get involved. Plus, we love seeing how much fun your team had!

6. Prosthetic Hand Distribution.

Once your hand is complete, Lightbulb Teams takes over. We partner with charities to distribute the prosthetic hands to individuals in need across the globe. Your efforts, along with others, make a real difference, and we ensure the hands reach those who need them most on behalf of your group or company.

Once your prosthetic hand is built, Lightbulb Teams takes over. We will organise for each hand to be quality-checked and distributed through our charity partners, helping to restore a sense of independence to amputees across the world.

By building a prosthetic hand, your team will have went beyond a traditional team-build exercise to create a lasting legacy for years to come.
