Accenture ‘Single-Handedly’ Builds 10 Prosthetic Hands

10 prosthetic hands built at the Novo Banco team day in Co. Dublin, Ireland
Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of working with the business management consultancy Accenture to bring a meaningful experience to their Novo Banco team day. As their Portuguese team prepared to gather at their headquarters in Grand Canal Dock, Dublin, they were looking for a CSR activity that reflected their ethos of creating positive change and helping others. That made our Give a Hand programme the perfect fit, an opportunity for the team to collaborate while building prosthetic hands for amputees around the world.
Starting with Purpose
The Give a Hand session was expertly facilitated by Pedro Pombo from Accenture Song, who introduced the programme with sensitivity, clarity, and genuine passion. With one of Lightbulb Teams’ help desk assistants on-hand to support, the Accenture group quickly settled in, split into teams, and prepared to take on the challenge.
To deepen the experience, many participants placed one hand behind their back! An eye-opening moment that helped them understand, in a small but powerful way, what it might feel like to navigate everyday tasks with only one limb. This added layer of empathy elevated the room’s energy and sense of purpose.

The Impact
The group’s enthusiasm paid off, and by lunchtime delegates had successfully built:
- 9 prosthetic hands during the team build
- 1 additional kit, assembled by individuals who were so moved by the programme that they wanted to contribute further before wrapping up
That’s a total of 10 prosthetic hands, each one destined to change someone’s life.
We’re so thankful for Accenture’s investment in Give a Hand, and for Pedro’s delivery. From the curiosity and compassion shown by delegates on the day to trusting us with their people, it was a morning to remember.
