Give a Hand Distribution
At Lightbulb Teams, we believe the best team building experiences don’t just strengthen workplace relationships – they create meaningful social impact.
Our flagship Give a Hand programme challenges corporate teams to communicate, collaborate and problem-solve while assembling a prosthetic hand for someone living with limb loss. Every hand built during our events is donated through our charity partner, LN-4, and distributed free of charge to amputees around the world.
For years, we’ve received monthly updates showing where these prosthetic hands are delivered. But this time, we had the opportunity to witness that impact in person.
Our team travelled to Kochi in Kerala, India, to attend two Rotary prosthetic hand clinics and see first-hand how our clients’ CSR team building efforts are changing lives.
Day One: Rotary Club of Kalamassery
Our first clinic brought together an incredible network of volunteers, healthcare professionals and Rotary members, all working towards a common goal: restoring independence through free prosthetic hand distribution.
Before recipients arrived, we helped prepare the different stations, including: prosthetic hand fitting, functional testing, counselling and photography and documentation.
Every recipient received personalised guidance on how to use and care for their new prosthetic hand, with plenty of time to ask questions and build confidence.
Throughout the day, we met people whose resilience was truly inspiring.
One story has stayed with us.
A man in his early thirties was travelling to work by train when he went to use the facilities. As the train passed over a bump, the bathroom door unexpectedly opened, causing him to be thrown from the carriage and off the moving train. He later woke in hospital with no memory of the accident, having lost both his arm and his leg.
Despite everything he had endured, he greeted everyone with warmth and optimism. Receiving his new prosthetic hand marked an important step in regaining his independence.
A Community Effort
The success of the Kalamassery clinic was made possible thanks to; Thomas Varghese, Prosthetic Hand Camp Chairman, for his outstanding coordination; everyone involved with Rotary District 3205; the dedicated LN-4 team; volunteers from Rajagiri; andย Mr. Hibi Eden, Honourable Member of Parliament, for his encouragement and support.
We’d also like to give a personal shout out to, Mohan Kumar who guided our co-ordination.
The impact of the Kalamassery Rotary Club was so significant, it featured across local television, newspapers and YouTube later that evening.

Day Two: Rotary Club of Mulanthuruthy
Our second prosthetic hand distribution clinic had an incredibly welcoming atmosphere and showcased the strength of the local community.
One family particularly touched us.
A father had travelled over 800 kilometres overnight by train so his seven-year-old son, who was born with a residual limb, could receive a prosthetic hand.
His determination to improve his son’s future was inspiring.
We were delighted to spend time with them and gifted the young boy one of our Toy for Life aeroplanes, bringing an extra smile to an already unforgettable day.
Throughout the clinic, we also recognised many prosthetic hands that had been assembled by our corporate clients, including Clancy Construction. This was especially rewarding.
One prosthetic hand assembled by Clancy Construction enabled a young man to regain greater independence by making it easier for him to ride his moped – his primary mode of transport.
These moments perfectly demonstrate how a single CSR team-building event can create lasting impact thousands of miles away.
The People Making it Possible
The dedication of LN-4’s India team was remarkable.
Special thanks go to Dr. Sukanya, Dr. Deshpande, and the skilled prosthetic technicians, whose expertise, kindness and professionalism ensured every recipient received the best possible care.
Their compassion was evident in every interaction and we learnt a lot from them.

90k+ Prosthetic Hands Milestone
Our visit to India was unforgettable. Reflecting on the visit, Lightbulb Teams Founder David Meade said:

Over 60 Prosthetic Hands Fitted in Kochi, Kerala
Our time in Kochi, Kerala was a sensory experience. From experiencing Kerala’s famous coconuts – (Kerala translates as “Land of Coconuts”) – to hearing powerful personal stories and witnessing the work happening on the ground, every moment reinforced why Give a Hand exists.
Across the two day clinics, more than 60 people received a free prosthetic hand, helping them regain confidence, independence and new opportunities in everyday life.
These distributions are only possible because of those who believe in CSR.
Together with LN-4, Rotary volunteers and our incredible corporate clients, we’re proving that team-building activities can have a life-changing impact on someone life.
