Charity team building benefits and future opportunities

Published:

Team building activities are an essential part of internal working relationships, effective communication and positive morale in the workplace.

At Lightbulb Teams, we choose to take team building one step further by integrating charitable initiatives into our programmes. With this, we ensure that each team building activity has a long-lasting impact on participants.

There are several key benefits to choosing a team building programme with a charitable initiative, such as enhancing social responsibility, encouraging employees to work together on a common goal and creating a stronger, more cohesive team to drive change personally and professionally.

Enhancing social responsibility through charitable team building activities

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is widely defined as the integration of social, ethical and environmental concerns within an organisation through its procedures, internal strategies and actions. For some organisations, this might mean a sustainability initiative, whereas others may focus on charity and helping those in need worldwide.

The investment into a comprehensive CSR strategy has several benefits for organisations. Firstly, many employees search for employers whose CSR initiatives align closely with their values and interests. In addition, corporate social responsibility can lead to more financial opportunities for organisations as they encourage further investment from stakeholders. CSR has additional benefits that go above and beyond day-to-day business success. With strategic CSR, your organisation also has the opportunity to reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, use natural sources sustainably or make an impact on those in developing countries.

Encouraging better working relationships

Charitable team building activities create a unique opportunity for employees to collaborate and work together outside of their usual working routine, promoting stronger internal relationships. This will lead to increased overall job satisfaction and improved productivity in the workplace.

Our range of team building programmes at Lightbulb Teams not only encourage your team to work collaboratively, but it also encourages them to work together on a project that benefits a greater cause. Each of our charitable initiatives seeks to make an impact in developing communities across the globe. Additionally, this helps to break down internal barriers across departments and hierarchies, encouraging all members of staff to work together and interact freely – which may not always be possible. When employees of all statures work together toward a common goal, they have the power to form stronger relationships and enjoy a more positive working environment.

Driving personal and professional change

Our charitable team building programmes also offer a unique platform for employees to grow both personally and professionally. By participating in a meaningful activity, your team will develop critical skills such as leadership, communication and problem-solving. They will also experience personal growth by engaging in causes they wouldnโ€™t normally think about, giving them a deeper sense of purpose and fulfilment in their work.

Future team building opportunities

If you are searching for new team building opportunities with a charitable initiative, our team will help you find the right programme for you.

Each of our charitable team building programmes is designed using scientifically sound and evidence-based research to equip your team with everything they need to overcome challenges, learn and step outside their comfort zone. Each session begins with a compelling keynote that is tailored to your organisation and its goals, before tasking your team to construct a prosthetic hand, build a wooden toy or create a water filtration system.

Give a Hand

The Give a Hand programme is a challenging, yet rewarding team building experience that allows your team to make a positive, life-changing difference to the future of those in developing communities around the world. Following a keynote introduction that discusses your organisation and its goals, participants will be tasked with the construction of a prosthetic hand from scratch. This will later be fitted to a recipient in a developing country who has lost a limb.
This activity challenges your team to work collaboratively. They will also be encouraged to write a personal message to the recipient before prosthetic hands are distributed to people in need and give them back the independence they all take for granted.

Toy for Life

Every child deserves the opportunity to discover the power of play. After visiting developing countries around the world, we discovered first-hand that local children in third-world countries are forced to play with potentially harmful or dangerous materials. From this, the Toy for Life programme was born.
Taking part in the Toy for Life programme will empower your team to build a toy that will be gifted to a child who is in the care of one of Lightbulb Teamsโ€™ charity partners. This will reinforce team collaboration, and ensure your team realise how fortunate they are, whilst also providing them with a sense of purpose and determination. Following this, within a matter of weeks, the crafted toys will be quality-checked and shipped to our charity partners who will distribute them across schools and childrenโ€™s hospitals in Uganda, Cambodia and India.

Water Works

The Water Works programme enables ordinary people across the world to get involved in building and donating a life-changing water filtration system. Approximately 1 million people are estimated to die each year as a result of unsafe drinking water. The Water Works programme invites your team to work together to build these water filtration systems, placing empathy and emotional intelligence at the heart of the session.
