Successful corporate teams today require much more than skills and productivity. In addition to these, they thrive on purpose, collaboration, creativity, and shared values. The power of a positive team dynamic should not be underestimated, and organisations should be aware of the impact they can have on society.
At Lightbulb Teams, we have created various charitable team-building programmes with a CSR initiative. These allow your team to enhance their communication skills, creativity and problem-solving abilities while creating meaningful change to others.
For example, our Toy for Life programme acts as a vehicle for your team to pass on the power of play to underprivileged children.
What is the ‘Toy for Life’ programme?
At Lightbulb Teams, we believe every child should have the opportunity to discover the power of play. Our fun team-build programme, Toy for Life was developed after our team visited many places and realised disadvantaged children didn’t have access to safe toys. And with that, a unique initiative was born that marries creative play, and team-building with corporate social responsibility. Within the Toy for Life programme, your team will assemble wooden toys that are then donated to children in need.
As a result, your teams will understand the joy and sense of purpose that comes from working towards a shared goal whilst also making a lasting impact on the lives of those in need across the globe.
Why choose the ‘Toy for Life’ team-building programme?
Building a shared sense of purpose
The Toy for Life programme will create a shared sense of purpose within your team by uniting them around the common goal – building wooden toys for children in need around the world. This goes beyond the mundane, daily tasks in the workplace, allowing your team to immerse themselves in the mission-driven task. As well as evoking nostalgia as participants tend to remember toys they played with during childhood, offering a connection with the child who will receive the wooden toy.
Encouraging creative thinking
Each team-building activity delivered by Lightbulb Teams is also designed to encourage creative thinking within the team. The hands-on nature of the Toy for Life programme requires your team to think strategically throughout the assembly to navigate any challenges that may arise. They will be tasked with figuring out how various pieces fit, as well as customising the canvas bag that the toy will be shipped in.
Improving team communication
The nature of our CSR team-building activities creates an environment where clear, effective communication is essential. Building toys as a group requires your teams to share ideas, divide tasks and coordinate their efforts to ensure children in need around the world receive long-lasting wooden toys. By listening attentively to one another, giving constructive feedback and adjusting their communication styles to better collaborate, the overall communication in your team will drastically improve from the shared experience. This open dialogue will translate positively back into the workplace, where team members will feel more comfortable sharing ideas, asking for help and offering suggestions in an open, honest environment.
Supporting vulnerable children
Upon visiting the third-world communities where water filters and prosthetic hands are delivered by Lightbulb Teams, we discovered that many children living in poverty are forced to play with potentially harmful or dangerous materials.
By participating in the Toy for Life programme, your team will help us support vulnerable children around the world by donating essential toys that provide joy, comfort and creativity. Play is an essential element of childhood development, and this allows us to support the healthy development of children as they have the opportunity to learn, grow and explore through play.
Engaging employees in company CSR activities
The Toy for Life programme provides organisations with the opportunity to engage their internal team and employees in corporate social responsibility strategies by inviting them to participate in a meaningful, hands-on experience that focuses on social impact.
The design of Lightbulb Team’s charitable team-building activities means that employees are actively involved in the organisation’s CSR initiative, allowing them to feel personally connected to the values and actions of the organisation as they can see the impact they are making.
Additionally, by increasing employee awareness of social responsibility, organisations have the opportunity to embed social responsibility and charity into their company culture. This encourages employees to have a positive view of CSR, seeing it as an integral and rewarding part of their work.
Start your team-building journey
The Toy for Life programme offers a powerful way for organisations to elevate both their team dynamics and social impact through CSR activities. In addition, allowing internal employees to get involved in the organisation’s CSR activities will encourage a greater sense of purpose, encourage better team communication and deepen employees’ engagement with the organisation and its values.
At Lightbulb Teams, we’re proud to have a range of CSR team-building activities on offer in addition to Toy for Life, such as Water Works and Give a Hand to help organisations build a culture of purpose. Overall, we’re motivated to help businesses worldwide make a meaningful impact on society and create lasting change – both within their organisation internally and in the third-world communities they are contributing to.
